AUGSBURGER PUPPENKISTE
An island with two mountains ... Since 1948 the Augsburger Puppenkiste has been performing fairy tales and other plays in Augsburg's old town. Since 1953, the wonderful productions can also be admired on television and the Augsburger Puppenkiste gained notoriety throughout Germany.
AUGSBURG TOWNHALL
The Augsburg town hall was built from 1615 on the east side of the town hall square in Augsburg. The 57 meter high secular building is one of the most important of the Renaissance architecture north of the Alps and, together with the Perlach tower, represents the city's landmark. The town hall is famous above all for its Golden Hall. The Augsburg city council meets on the floor below, in the Upper Fletz.
AUGSBURG ZOO
With more than 650,000 visitors a year, the Augsburg Zoo is one of the most popular attractions in Swabia and one of the 20 largest zoos in Germany. There are two animal houses for big cats, a large tropical hall and several ponds on an area of 22 hectares. Zebras and giraffes also call the zoo their home.
THE ROMANTIC STREET
It is 460 km long and runs through 26 cities. The Romantic Road leads from Würzburg to Füssen and presents a great variety of ancient history, art and culture. From north to south you will encounter river valleys, fertile farmland, forests, meadows, mountains and old castles and palaces.
